Ive gone on that site in search of more Harry potter fan fiction, and I found it to be a royal pain in the ass. lol sorry if this doesn't help very much

I go on ff.net to read Harry Potter fics but haven't actually posted anything myself. You have to write your fic in Word and upload each chapter one at a time, so if you have a long story, I guess it can be a pain in the ass lol.

Lol yeah, it's not so much that as trying to submit it. That's really what I want to know: has anyone actually managed to submit a story? The only reason I'm thinking about it is that I want constructive critisism on my writing from people who don't know me and, therefore, won't be biased.

Regarding FF.net, I've gone on it, and imo its not that hard to navigate, to the person who wrote the original post, what browser are you using to access the site, I've only accessed it with FF 1.5.0.12 since FF 2.0x isn't jaws friendly on that site or others, unsure how to make it be so. As for using IE since I only use IE for my Cisco class at school, I really haven't tried it with IE 6, don't wanna even think about IE 7, reply, if you have any other questions. And I'll do my best to try to help you out, I am not an author there, though I do have an account, but haven't submitted anything, so can't help you out with that.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, you're dealing with a person who has basic knowledge of computers, and I have no idea of what browser I'm using. I can do everything no problem except for actually submitting things, everything else seems to work fine for me.

IrishGirl, I use the site, and have submitted a story. If you'd like to write me off the Zone, please feel free, and I'll try and offer some help. I use Jaws...

At the moment, the only obstacle with FF.net is the human verification, but I've found a way around that, for the moment.

I read on ff some, but yeah, it is annoying to navigate.
and does anyone know a good hp fic right off? I'd like to go read some.
fictionpress.com
is good for origional fiction, but it's annoying too.

Fanfiction and fictionpress are about as easy a sthe high schol slut to naviage,as long as you remember to turn on forms mode and open your list box. do that by control down aarow, or is it alt, I can't remember but try either one. I have some fantastic fanfiction from either M AD fan or join the yahoo group snorkack which two authors left ff.net and went there. I'm a mod so if you want to be scrubed email me from the zone and I'll get you throug no problem. If anyone needs help let me know i've submitted, read, reviewed and the audio verrification is easy enough unles you have trouble and then i'd ive you ha hand. aim is tsepup01 if you need me.

You click log in enter your e-mail and password then use the tab key to get to the link which says "If you can't read this, Click here" There is a link under it as well if that one doesn't work. go to the box that says Verification image and enter the three numbers you hear.

then click the checkbox that says "Keep me loged in for three days than hit the log in button.

now enter your links list and hit D untill you hear jaws say Documents. Now you hit F to enter a document lable. something so you know what document you will have to do to create your story. get out of forms mode and hit the B key once to get to the browse button. you can then go and click on the document on your computer then hit enter on it.
Hit the B key again to get to submit document and there you go.

Next click on Stories than guidelines. hit control and the end keys to get to the bottom of the file and Shift Tab once untill you hear
"Yes I have Read and agree to the story guidelines.

Get back into the links list and hit N untill you hear New Story and everything is pretty self explanitory from there. I use the site with no problems.

I am Draconess. I'm also on fiction press as well as Shadower.

When you ghet to the new story screen you have a button that you have to click to choose your story catigory. example Books is the mane catigory and then you have to choose a sub catigory. Harry Potter.

the rest is simple. you enter a story title in the first formfield and a summary in the next. then you choose the language of the story. English and then the ratings. G PG PG13 and R. that's what it used to be but now it is K, K+, T and M. K+ is K with a plus sign after it. then you enter whether the story is in progress. if you want to add more chapters or if it is complet. a one chapter story or you just added the last chapter of the story. then you choose the document you want. you use the down arrow once and there is the document you uploaded earlier under the doc label you gave it. Example.

the story is actually called The Hamburger from outerspace. an example of a doc label might be THS. The hamburger Space. make sense!

then you click on creat story and volah! you have just posted your first piece of fanfiction!
If anyone is on Fanfiction, I would like to know your user names so I can add you to my favorite author list or add some of your stories to my favorites. now I need to go and I have posted 37 stories on there in the past year!! I'm not that popular but oh well.

I have an account in that site, it's pretty cool if your an avid reader. It was a bit confusing though when I was a new user, but when you get used to it, it works both ways. It's a cool site to check out. I know there's a help section there linked on the site's main page, it will help you out with any questions.

Post 16 by The Elemental Dragon (queen of dragons) on Saturday, 06-Oct-2007 20:54:57

I didn't even bother with the help section, I just red the guides under the catigories, docks stories etc! it can be fun if you get the right reviewers and the like. sometimes a site just needs to be plaied around with.
